Exploring DC, part 4 - Tuesday night, cont.

So, finally, we come to the most iconic building in America. Lit up for night, as usual. But not, as I thought, decorated for the holiday.

A cool art museum is on the same block, and the massive US Treasury.

Around the corner is the gorgeous Washington Hotel, with the giant "W" out front.

Then, behind the back, is the official Christmas tree. There was caroling, and smaller state trees, and a model railroad going around the big one. Very nice!!

The "vegetable" poster was in where we ate dinner, Chop't. A fantastic, I mean I cannot express enough how fabulous it was, fresh make-your-own salad place. Choices included grains, local produce and cheeses, and 5 choices of greens! I thought the poster was magnificent.

😀

That was the end of our long day. The next day we headed to the Capitol for our tour, among other things.

Exploring DC, part 3 - Tuesday night

We made it to the Lincoln Memorial, and Aidan was in his element. That's his fave president. I got a great shot of him sitting in front of, and reading, the Gettysburg Address. It was so cute!

From there we headed towards the White House, apparently taking the long way.  😜

Found the Vietnam Memorial, which is quite moving.

Finally we located Pennsylvania Ave and headed toward 1600.

Next door to the house of white is an executive office building, which is massive and fabulous, and you see here.

Stay tuned for more ...

Exploring DC, part 2 - Tuesday eve

We arrived at the Monument and the boys were most impressed. Got a great pic of Roman lined up the it.

From there we headed to the reflecting pool, and stopped to experience the WWII memorial on the opposite end of the pool from Lincoln.

Got some lovely shots of the various monuments lit up, and some sunset shots too. The two landscape refection shots are from the pool, one with flash and one without. Love them.

The lighted fountain with half the state slabs is nice too, as is the Lincoln Memorial reflection in the pool.

Next post will be the close up of Lincoln's shrine, so to speak, and some other buildings on the way to the White House.

UPDATE: Aargh, they don't even post in time order, which is how iI select them in my gallery!
